How these restaurant rankings are calculated
Rankings use the latest comparable Cycle or Pre-permit Operational inspection score and the most recent selectable grade represented in the DOHMH snapshot. We do not add review ratings, popularity, price or editorial judgments.
A low score is favorable because the number represents violation points. Borough comparisons include only the same inspection program and subtype, require at least 50 records and count peers with a numerically higher score. Missing scores are excluded and ties are not counted as outperformed.
Inspection data is a snapshot, not a guarantee. Read each restaurant’s violations and history, and consult the data methodology before interpreting the result.
